Community Lakes Association Receives Grant for Milfoil Control

The Community Lakes Association has received a very substantial Maine Milfoil Initiative Grant from US Fish and Wildlife that will help the CLA obtain a "DASH " boat, which takes the milfoil that is handpulled by divers and brings it to the surface via a suction hose. This grant will also allow the CLA to greatly increase milfoil control efforts through surveying, hand pulling, and using benthic mats on Lake Christopher and Shagg Pond.
In order to meet the match requirements and the increase in these milfoil control activities, the CLA will also need additional donations and volunteer assistance to help supplement this grant.
The Lakes Association is very appreciative to DEP, IF&W,and the donations and volunteer assistance they have received on this project. Especially noteworthy is the assistance we are receiving each year from the University of Maine 4-H Camp and Learning Center at Bryant Pond (formerly the Maine Conservation School).
